OPINION: Brentwood Park Toxic Waste heading for Hauppauge

Supervisor Croci proposes to re-dump 75% of Roberto Clemente Park Toxic Waste in Hauppauge!

To all my Hauppauge neighbors and friends, I attended the NYS DEC Public Hearings held at the SCCC Western Campus on the cleanup of Roberto Clemente Park and boy am I glad I did! Why? I learned that 75% of the toxic waste to be removed will be re dumped, right here in Hauppauge at the Blydenburgh Rd Landfill. That’s Right neighbors, Supervisor Tom Croci has proposed to NYS to save money by dumping what they consider the least hazardous hazardous waste here in our community. A large contingency of our neighbors residing at the Windwatch Hamlet were there with their attorney protesting Croci’s proposal. That Landfill was only to receive Clean Construction and Demolition Debris, but to save cleanup disposal costs Toxic Tom Croci will dump it here in our backyard. Won’t that make a nice advertisement on your homes for sale sign? “You know those Toxics they didn’t want in Brentwood, well here it comes Hauppauge.” All this on top of the toxic dumping the town turned a blind eye to at the Veterans Circle Housing on Motor Pkwy in Hauppauge. Now we can begin by sending one loud and clear message to the Town of Islip in less than four weeks by handing Supervisor Croci a crushing defeat on Election Day.
