BRINGING HOME THE GOLD

HAUPPAUGE'S CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, CHAMBER CHOIR, CONCERT CHOIR AND WIND ENSEMBLE SCORE GOLD AT NYSSMA MAJOR ORGANIZATION FESTIVAL

Hauppauge High School’s Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Choir, Concert Choir and Wind Ensemble all achieved “Gold” ratings at the 2016 NYSSMA Major Organization Festival. The Chamber Choir received a Level VI Gold with Distinction; the Chamber Orchestra received a Level V Gold; the Concert Choir received a Level V Gold; and the Wind Ensemble received a Level V Gold.

A Gold rating is awarded to organizations that demonstrate an outstanding level of technical and artistic skill in: tone, intonation, balance, technique, diction, accuracy/execution, interpretation, discipline and appropriate choice of music. A “Gold with Distinction” rating is awarded only to those choirs that achieve a standard of performance deemed exceptional in all of the three selections performed for the NYSSMA judges.

“We are pleased to congratulate all of our exceptionally talented students and their equally talented Music Directors Mark Kimes, Andrew Monsen and Leah Paese for their Gold performance at the 2016 NYSSMA Majors Festival,” stated Director of Fine and Performing Arts Laura Stiegelmaier. “Thank you for bringing the highest level of musical achievement in New York State to Hauppauge!! We are so proud of you!”
