A CHEERFUL VICTORY

HAUPPAUGE'S VARSITY CHEER TEAM CAPTURES 4th PLACE IN NATIONAL COMPETITION

Hauppauge’s Girls Varsity Cheer Team captured 4th place in the Small Varsity Division at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC), which was recently held in Orlando, Florida. The competition featured teams – comprised of more than 13,000 individuals from all over the country – which qualified to compete through regional championships. “Congratulations to all of the members of the Varsity Cheer Team and to Coach Laura Candela for this outstanding achievement,” stated Dan Butler, Hauppauge’s director of Athletics, Health, Recreation and Family and Consumer Science.

The NHSCC is the most prestigious cheerleading championship in the country. It was held at the Walt Disney World® Resort, and was nationally televised on ESPN and ESPN2 to more than 100 million homes and 32 countries nationwide.
