Christina Flythe Promoted to Director of Child Care Council of Suffolk's Parent Leadership Initiative
Child Care Council of Suffolk (CCCS) Executive Director Janet Walerstein is pleased to announce that Christina M. Flythe has been promoted to director of the agency’s Parent Leadership Initiative (PLI). “Christina joined CCCS six years ago and has advanced through progressively more responsible positions in the PLI Department,” Walerstein stated. “She is a Huntington PLI graduate and brings her personal love for the program along with a wealth of experience to the directorship. We are excited about Christina’s new role at the Council.”
As the Parent Leadership Initiative director, Flythe is responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all aspects of an ongoing program including planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling program activities in accordance with the policy and mission set out by Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc. Also as a member of the senior management team, she participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives in addition to problem-solving. She additionally is tasked with working within the guidelines, policies and mission of the agency and is accountable and responsible for other specific projects as assigned.
The Huntington, New York resident most recently served as PLI senior program coordinator and facilitator. Flythe joined the Child Care Council of Suffolk in 2011. Prior to that, she was a teacher assistant in the Wyandanch USFSD. She holds a Master of Art, Childhood Education, Summa Cum Laude, from Adelphi University, and is working toward a Master of Social Work from the Adelphi University School of Social Work. Flythe is a member of the NAACP and NCNW and is a board member/mentor of L.E.A.D. Mentoring.
