CREATING A WINNING VIDEO
HAUPPAUGE HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS BRITTANY LEWIS AND SAMANTHA WEINSTEIN TOP HUNDREDS TO WIN LIYS BEST ORIGINAL/VIDEO PROJECT AWARD

Out of hundreds of competitors, Hauppauge High School Juniors Brittany Lewis and Samantha Weinstein won the award for Best Original Art/Video Project at the 6th Annual 2015 Long Island Youth Summit (LIYS) held at Dowling College in Oakdale, New York. The Long Island Youth Summit is designed to engage high school students in an exploration of important current socio-medical, environmental and socio-economic issues. It is a partnership among a number of Long Island organization, including:

The 6th Annual Long Island Youth Summit brought together more than 300 talented high school students for a day of interactive workshops with experts in the fields of medicine, environment, business and the economy, and leadership.
As part of their LIYS Award, Lewis and Weinstein each won a $2,000 Dowling Scholarship and are eligible to apply for summer intern positions with North Shore LIJ. “I am so very proud of Brittany and Samantha. They epitomize what makes Hauppauge students so special,” stated Hauppauge’s Director of English/Language Arts. “They took a very serious topic – which adversely impacts many individuals – and made it real and understandable. I believe their work will support others to get the help they need to deal with eating disorders.”
