The Islip Arts Council presents the Pacifica Quartet as the start of its 2010-2011 Chamber Music Series on Oct. 24. The Pacifica Quartet is recognized for its exhuberant performance style and daring reperatory choices. Quartet members include: Simin Ganatra, violin; Sibbi Bernhardsson, violin; Masumi Per Rostad, viola; and Brandon Vamos, cello.
Pacifica received the 2009 "Best Chamber Music Performance" Grammy Award for its acclaimed recording of Elliot Carter's String Quartets Nos. 1 & 5 (Naxos).
