Hauppauge Students Become Technology Savvy
Hauppauge Middle School's Website Club Helped Students Learn Important Technology Skills at a Young Age

Hauppauge Middle School’s Weebly Website Club is designed to help students develop important technology skills at a very young age. “Weebly Club was a great experience. In this world of technology, making a website is a significant way to share and find information,” described 7th grade student Peter Proscia “Without Weebly Club, I might never be able to make a website successfully.”
According to Website Club Adviser Brenda DePetris, the students in this Club learned how to use Weebly to develop creative websites. They also have learned how to use Audacity to edit sound clips and Movie Maker to edit video. They extensively used resources from the Virtual Reference Collection, including ImageQuest (for rights cleared images), Soundzabound (for rights cleared audio) and NoodleTools for citations. They additionally used Discovery Education and the Digital Media Library for video clips.
“Website Weebly Club is a very useful and helpful club for me. It has helped me learn how to use a new software and how to make a website for future project ideas like our National History Day,” said 8th grade student Mara Smakal. “The librarians in our school have helped me through the process to learn new and different techniques.”
