Hauppauge Students Enjoy Red Carpet Moment at 2014 Teeny Awards

Hauppauge High School theatre students enjoyed a Red Carpet Moment when they swept the Islip Arts Council’s 2014 Teeny Awards. The Teeny Awards…Career Path to Success is a high school student recognition program, patterned after the Tony Awards. The following Hauppauge theatre students were recognized at the June 3, 2014 Awards program:

   Town of Islip Arts Council’s Scholarship Awards: Lindsay Lauria and Scott Bottner

   Best Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama: The Good Doctor

   Best Ensemble in a Musical: Merrily We Roll Along

   Outstanding Cameo Actor in a Comedy or Drama: Eamon Phelan, The Good Doctor

   Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy or Drama: Dan S. Smith, The Good Doctor

   Best Lead Actor in a Comedy or Drama: Billy Recce, The Good Doctor

   Best Lead Actress in a Comedy or Drama: Olivia Souza, The Good Doctor

   Lighting Design: Erika Seeger, Merrily We Roll Along

“However, most impressive were our students’ gracious, respectful, articulate and thoughtful thank you speeches,” stated Hauppauge Theatre Department Teacher Ruthie Pincus. “The Hauppauge community was represented with great polish.”

This was the sixth year of the Teeny Awards’ presentation by the Islip Arts Council. The program’s objective is to recognize outstanding talent and encourage students to continue their education and to pursue careers in performing arts and theater. The funds contributed through sponsorships are applied to scholarship awards and the administration of this innovative student presentation.

The following Hauppauge theatre students were nominated for 2014 Teeny Awards:

   Best Lead Actress in a Musical: Sarah Juliano

   Best Lead Actor in a Musical: Justin Albinder and Scott Bottner

   Best Ensemble in a Musical: Merrily We Roll Along cast

   Best Lead Actor in a Comedy or Drama: Billy Recce and Scott Bottner

   Best Lead Actress in a Comedy or a Drama: Olivia Souza and Lindsay Lauria

   Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy or a Drama: Maria Johnsen, Sarah Juliano and Brooke Fabian

   Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy or Drama: Jimmy Bie, Dan S. Smith and Justin Albinder

   Outstanding Cameo Actor in a Comedy or Drama: Eamon Phelan and Craig Bottner

   Best Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama: The Good Doctor Cast

In addition, Justin Albinder, Scott Bottner and Sarah Juliano performed “Old Friends” at the Teeny Awards, which is one of their musical numbers from Merrily We Roll Along.
