Hauppauge's Theatre Students Light Up the Stage

"NOTHING IS TOO WINDERFUL TO BE TRUE!" IN HAUPPAUGE HIGH SCHOOL'S THEATRE COMMUNITY

According to Hauppauge High School Theatre Teacher Ruthie Pincus, the weekend of March 6 and 7 was exceptional for the cast, crew, orchestra and audience of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, this year’s high school musical production. With music and lyrics by David Yazbek and a book by Jeffrey Lane, it is based on the 1988 film of the same name.

This musical, which first premiered on Broadway in 2005, takes place at a resort on the French Riviera. It is the story of two con men who work their magic as they compete for the same woman and eventually find themselves conned by that very woman. “Between Stage Crew, Cast, Orchestra and the Art Department, almost 200 students were involved in making this year’s musical a rousing success,” described Pincus. “With the combined efforts of the students, faculty and staff, we were able to achieve Great Big Stuff for the Hauppauge community proving that Nothing is too Wonderful to be True!
