Hauppauge Students Learn about Recycling from Town of Islip Educator; Also Share Holiday Spirit with Children in NYU Cancer Center

Bretton Woods Elementary School students in Elia Figari’s and Danielle Sukoff’s fourth grade class recently learned about recycling from Town of Islip Recycling Educator Danielle Wynn. Wynn taught the students about how the Town of Islip recycles, why recycling is important and how they can do their part to help the environment. The students also viewed different products that were made from recycled goods and even learned how to make recycled paper in their own homes.
Sukoff’s/Figari’s and Lara Damadeo’s fourth grade students also made special coloring books for children at the NYU Cancer Center. The hospital is linked with the annual Kicks for Cancer fundraiser that Hauppauge High School organizes. Each year, the girls’ Varsity Soccer Team visits the NYU Cancer Center to distribute the handmade coloring books to the children in the hospital for the holidays.
