Is Diesel Right for You?

Here are some quick facts about diesel:  

  • Diesel is most efficient for highway driving. 
  • In the US, diesel fuel is more expensive and only ½ of fuel stations offer it. 
  • Diesel cars are more expensive due to the complex systems needed to meet emissions regulations. 
  • It has a stronger odor than gasoline, which rapidly evaporates. Diesel lingers and is slick to the touch, making fueling up less pleasant.    
If you regularly drive long distances on open roads, you will see more savings even though diesel cars and fuel are priced higher. However, if you have a commute on the shorter side and tend to hit traffic, you may not be taking advantages of any of the benefits.
