KEEPING IT GREEN

HAUPPAUGE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS SWORN IN AS KEEP ISLIP CLEAN JUNIOR COMMISSIONERS

Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by Councilman Steve Flotteron, Councilman Anthony Senft Jr., Town Clerk Olga Murray and Receiver of Taxes Alexis Weik to induct the 2015-2016 Keep Islip Clean (KIC) Junior Commissioners. Supervisor Carpenter swore in 49 high school students – including Hauppauge High School Students Jessica Cuzzi, Gillian Katsumi and Jeewon Oh – as junior commissioners and wished them all the best of luck as they began working to make the Town a cleaner and greener community.

KIC is a not-for-profit affiliate of the nationwide organization Keep America Beautiful, Inc., that is dedicated to keeping Islip clean, safe and beautiful. Junior Commissioners are high school students recommended by their school principals as having demonstrated environmental concern as well as social, civil and academic responsibility. These junior commissioners play an active role, volunteering their time and efforts, to beautify Islip – making it a cleaner, safer and more enjoyable place to live, work and visit.
