Long Island celebrity dog trainer Samantha Valle and her rescue dogs recently performed their amazing stunts for the Hauppauge Middle School’s Puppy Club and Best Buddies Club. One of the stunt dogs – nine-year-old Paco – even set a world record live in front of the Hauppauge Middle Schoolers when he leaped over a 58-inch hurdle!
Valle’s rescue stunt dogs have appeared on The Today Show, The Steve Harvey Show and The David Letterman Show, among others. She is known for her Double Dutch Jump-Roping Dog Geronimo, who recently also set a Guinness Book Jump-Roping Record live on The Today Show. Valle’s dogs perform across the country, but as a friend of the Puppy Club’s Adviser Jennifer Nannery, she finds time in her busy schedule to perform at Hauppauge Middle School.
In addition to being delighted and amazed by the incredible stunts performed by the rescue dogs, the Puppy Club and Best Buddies Club members raised approximately $250, which has been donated to Save-a-Pet – a Port Jefferson based animal shelter. The Club members sold tickets to the event and dog biscuits to raise the funds for the animal rescue shelter.
Hauppauge’s Puppy Club’s students share a true compassion for animals. Members discuss issues that not only relate to animals – but parallel to themselves as well. Trust, belonging, stereotyping, compassion and service are some of the topics they explore. The Best Buddies Club enhances the lives of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing one-to-one friendships. Volunteering at school activities, attending social functions, meeting and talking about the Middle School experience and an off-site charity walk are some of the activities in which Best Buddies Club members participate.
