LI Couple Fled Cops, Crashed Stolen Car Upstate: Report

The man and woman lead cops on a chase in a car stolen from a Long Island gas station last week, according to a report.

MONTICELLO, NY - A Long Island couple were arrested last weekend in upstate New York after leading cops on a chase in a stolen Oldsmobile and crashing the car, according to a report in the Times Herald-Record.

Michael Leto, 28, of Hauppauge was driving the car that was reportedly stolen from a North Babylon gas station with passenger Courtney Rauch, 30, of Sag Harbor when an officer attempted to pull him over for speeding on Route 17, the Times Herald-Record reports.

The officer chased the car until Leto crashed "ran off the road and crashed near Heiden Road," according to the report.

The two were sent to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris and both charged with felony possession of stolen property, the report states. Leto also faces additional charges.
