Man Dies After Car Collides With Tractor Trailer on LIE Service Road

A Brentwood man is dead following a crash between a car and a tractor trailer in Islandia Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, 35-year-old Carlos Santiago was driving a 2008 Honda northbound on Motor Parkway when his vehicle was struck by a tractor trailer that was traveling westbound on Express Drive North at 1:15 p.m.

Santiago was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 56-year-old William Garrison, of Frankfort, Indiana, was transported via ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life threatening injuries.

There is a traffic light at the intersection where the crash occurred, but police did not specify who had the green light. No criminal charges have been filed.
