Man Indicted In Killing Of Cousin, Attempted Slaying: Suffolk DA

The man was accused of fatally stabbing his cousin and then stabbing his cousin's girlfriend in front of her son, DA Raymond Tierney says.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A Brentwood man was indicted in connection with fatally stabbing his cousin and then stabbing his cousin's girlfriend in front of her son, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said Wednesday.

Wilson Felipe Andrade-Molina, 37, faces charges of murder and attempted murder.

"This was a blood relative who allegedly was out for blood, and unfortunately for one of the victims, he succeeded," Tierney said in a news release. "This was a senseless, brutal and very violent crime. We will seek justice for the victims."

Andrade-Molina fatally stabbed his cousin, Miguel Andrade-Cando, 38, of Brentwood, at their place of employment on March 30, prosecutors said. Andrade-Molina and his cousin worked together as machinists for Electronic Machine Parts in Hauppauge, the DA said.

Surveillance footage, investigators said, shows Andrade-Molina arrived at the shop at 7:22 a.m. just before his cousin. Within minutes of Andrade-Cando's arrival, Andrade-Molina stabbed his cousin in the neck, killing him, authorities said.

The business owner found Andrade-Cando on the floor inside the factory lying in a pool of blood, officials said.

Andrade-Molina then went to his cousin's home in Brentwood just before 8 a.m. and near-fatally stabbed his cousin’s girlfriend, Santa Pena, 46, inside her home, prosecutors said.

Pena’s 21-year-old son, who was sleeping at the time, woke up when he heard his mother's screams, the DA said. When he tried to go to her aid, Andrade-Molina walked toward him with the knife, investigators said. Andrade-Molina returned to Pena and continued to stab her as she was lying on the floor, authorities said.

Andrade-Molina drove to Bay Shore, where police arrested him, officials said.

Pena suffered life-threatening injuries, including a lacerated liver, punctures to her diaphragm and both lungs, and cuts to her arm, shoulder, breast, and torso, Tierney said. Pena is currently in the intensive care unit in a local hospital after having undergone lifesaving surgery, officials said.

Investigators said they do not know Andrade-Molina's motive for the stabbings.

Wilson-Andrade is being represented by Steve Politi, who said Wilson-Andrade pleads not guilty.

Andrade-Molina was arraigned Wednesday on charges of second-degree murder (a class A felony), second-degree attempted murder (a Class B felony), and first-degree assault (a Class B felony).

"My client is presumed innocent, and I am investigating the allegations made against him," Politi told Patch. "I have yet to see a video that they claim they have that proves part of their case. We're looking forward to a trial."

Judge Timothy P. Mazzei ordered Wilson-Andrade to be continued to be held without bail. His next court date is scheduled for May 11.

Politi said he plans to make a bail application on Wilson-Andrade's behalf in the "near future."
