
John Feal, of the Feal Good Foundation (http://www.fealgoodfoundation.com ), visited the senior social studies classes at Hauppauge High School this past March. Feal discussed the aftermath of 911 with the students, and in particular, the impact on the first responders and how he became an advocate for the Zadroga Bill. Martin Aponte, president of the 911 Responders Remembered Park in Nesconset, and another first responder also spoke to the students about 911, advocacy and community service.
Feal generously offered a $500 scholarship to the student who wrote the best essay describing how 911 impacted him/her. According to Participation in Government Teacher Anne Stebbins, “We are extremely pleased to announce that John and several of the Foundation’s board members decided to award Feal Good Foundation Scholarships to the following Hauppauge students:
