NEW INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT
NEIL LEDERER TO SERVE AS HAUPPAUGE SCHOOL DISTRICT INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

The Hauppauge School District Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Neil Lederer as the new interim superintendent of schools effective January 5, 2016. Over the past several weeks, the Board’s search committee, comprised of representatives from administrators, teachers, staff, and parents, interviewed candidates for the position. “Neil Lederer was chosen from a highly qualified field,” stated David Barshay, Esq., Hauppauge School District Board of Education president. “The Board is excited about the new opportunities in leadership he brings to our schools. We look forward to setting a new course of expanded educational opportunities and a path to improved academic achievement for our students.”
Lederer brings a wealth of experience and leadership skills to the Hauppauge School District. Over the course of five decades, he has served as superintendent of schools, interim superintendent of schools, principal, assistant principal and teacher in several Long Island school districts. He holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from New York University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Long Island University. “I have the utmost respect and admiration for the phenomenal educators and support staff in the Hauppauge School District, and I am looking forward to collaborating with them as well as students, families and other stakeholders in the months ahead,” Lederer said.
“We greatly look forward to partnering with Neil and all other stakeholders as we launch a new start in 2016 and emphasize new beginnings for the Hauppauge School District community,” Barshay commented.
