Hauppauge High School Students Compete in New York State DECA Career Conference

Eighteen Hauppauge High School students competed in the New York State DECA Career Competition, which recently was held in Rochester, New York. Eight Hauppauge students placed in their respective competitions that are designed to analyze situations or problems encountered by business professionals and to react to these problems by providing recommendations or solutions using creative marketing and management skills in a role play setting.

Emma Olivo, Abigail Choi and Amy Petrocelli – Entrepreneurship Promotion Project. This team ranked in the TOP FIVE in New York State and will go forward to compete at the DECA International Career Development Conference, which will be held April 26-29, 2017 in Anaheim, California.

DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. It helps prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. “I am proud of all the Hauppauge students who participated in the New York State DECA Career Conference. They conducted themselves in a highly professional and respectful manner with the judges and had a lot of fun while gaining invaluable real-life experience at the Conference workshops, assemblies and competitions,” described Hauppauge High School Business Teacher and DECA Adviser Frank Hufnagel.
