Officer Hospitalized After Hauppauge Crash

The crash occurred on Friday night.

HAUPPAUGE, NY - A police officer was hospitalized after a woman crashed into a police car on the Long Island Expressway in Hauppauge Friday night, according to Suffolk Police.

According to police, a 62-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Nissan SUV when she struck the back of a marked police car with the lights on between exits 55-53 at 11:30 p.m., police said.

The officer was traveling slowly, closing the road for overnight construction when the vehicle was struck.

The officer was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the other car and her two passengers were transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for precautions, police said.

The woman was issued summonses for failure to comply with lane directions, improper speed in a construction area, and unsafe lane change, police said.
