Police ID Duo Arrested In Drug Bust Near Jake's 58

Two men, including one who stole a running car and then crashed it, were arrested during the bust. A third suspect remains on the loose.

ISLANDIA, NY – Two Suffolk Police officers were injured while conducting a drug bust in Islandia Thursday evening. Police say officers attempted to apprehend three men near Jake's 58 Hotel & Casino, located at 3635 Express Drive North, in Islandia at about 5:04 p.m.

Quendell Wiggins, 27, was taken into custody at the scene and the two other men fled, police said.

A second man, 32-year-old Hagi Davis, stole a running vehicle from a nearby parking lot and fled eastbound on Express Drive South, police said. The vehicle Davis was driving struck an SUV and several parked cars near Lake Promenade in Ronkonkoma a short time later. Two officers were injured while attempting to apprehend Davis, police said.

Davis and the female driver of the SUV were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two officers were treated and released at Stony Brook University Hospital. The third suspect fled on foot and has not been apprehended. The investigation is continuing.

Davis, of Middle Island, was charged three counts of third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third degree grand larceny, second degree assault, resisting arrest, reckless driving and third degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
