One Injured in LIE Crash

A total of four vehicles, including a Suffolk County transit bus, were involved in the crash.

ISLANDIA, NY - A woman was hospitalized after a multiple vehicle crash on the Long Island Expressway in Islandia on Monday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.

A Pontiac sedan was traveling in the right lane of the westbound LIE when the driver attempted to change lanes across the roadway to enter the HOV lane at 1:10 p.m., police said.

His car hit a Chevrolet in the HOV lane which then spun out and crashed into the guard rail on the right shoulder, police said.

After witnessing the crash, a Suffolk County bus driver spun out and struck a pickup truck in the left lane. The pickup grazed a sedan.

The female driver of the Chevrolet was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
