Hauppauge High School Senior Amy Petrocelli Named 2016 Power of One Award Recipient

The Hauppauge School District community recently participated in the Power of One 5K Family Fun Run and 1 Mile Run. Coordinated by the Wellness Committee, the Power of One Run is held annually in the fall and spring. The run kicked off in front of Hauppauge Middle School and proceeded through the streets of Hauppauge. The top three male and female runners in each age category were presented with awards, and Hauppauge High School Senior Amy Petrocelli was named the 2016 Power of One Award recipient. “Petrocelli was selected for the Power of One award based on her ability to use her voice, her impressive contributions to both school and community and her desire to make a difference,” described Teacher Carol Pacileo.

According to Pacileo, “the Power of One Family Fun Run was created in 1997 to encourage healthy choices within the family and to provide an opportunity for families to exercise together.”
