HAUPPAUGE, NY - Firefighters helped deliver a baby after the mother went unconscious in front of a Hauppauge home on Monday night, the Hauppauge Fire Department announced.

At 6:50 p.m. the owners of the Southern Boulevard home, Grace Kunzig and her husband Hauppauge Firefighter Larry Kunzig were alerted to a woman and her husband in front of their home.

Larry then instructed Grace to call for help and she contacted Smithtown Fire/Rescue who notified the
Nesconset Fire Department who responded.

Larry continued CPR until additional firefighters from the Hauppauge Fire Deaprtment arrived.

Firefighters responded to the home to assist with CPR.

Once the Nesconset Fire Department was on scene the woman was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where an emergency C-section was performed.

At this time the mother and baby are reported as doing well.

Just 8 months ago, the Kunzigs were involved in another emergency when Grace became unconscious and stopped breathing on New Year's Day.

Some of the same members of the Hauppauge Fire Department including LT Michael Mendola and his Brother FF Andrew Mendola responded to the Kunzig home and assisted with CPR to Grace, which helped save her life.

Now 8 months late on a hot summer night Grace and her husband were able to payback the tradition of "neighbors helping neighbors."
