Hauppauge's Stage the Change Players Perform at Historic Landmark Theater in Port Washington

Hauppauge High School’s Stage the Change Players recently performed at the …and Social Justice for All symposium that was held at the Landmark Theater in Port Washington, New York. Sponsored by Landmark on Main Street and Long Island Together, the multi-cultural event featured song, dance and theatre performances; food from multiple ethnic communities (sponsored by local businesses); information-sharing and conversation about how people can join together and connect their diverse communities to affirm fundamental American values of truth, equality, liberty and social justice for all.
Representatives from community and social service organizations – including Planned Parenthood, Grassroots Environmental Education, Long Island Transgender Advocacy Coalition, Port Together, SEPTA, Bend the Arc, Hauppauge High School’s Stage the Change Players and more – shared information about how to organize and react to any curtailment of civil rights and discourse.
Hauppauge’s students performed “Religion Party” at the symposium, which focused on celebrating diversity and understanding one another’s beliefs. Stage the Change helps students become global citizens through creativity and performance and provides communities with inspirational original performance works that serve as catalysts for social change.
