RED CARPET MOMENT!

HAUPPAUGE THEATRE STUDENTS SHINE AT 2016 TEENY AWARDS

Hauppauge High School theatre students enjoyed a Red Carpet Moment at the Islip Arts Council’s 2016 Teeny Awards, which was held on June 9, 2016, at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center, Oakdale, New York. “The Teeny Awards…Career Path to Success” is the Islip Arts Council’s version of the Tony Awards for the Township’s high school students. The following Hauppauge theatre students won their respective categories at the 2016 Teeny Awards Gala:

Alexa Joseph – Best Lead Actress in a Musical

Maria Johnsen – Best Lead Actress in a Drama

“The Hauppauge community was well represented with great polish and panache at the 2016 Teeny Awards Gala,” stated Hauppauge Theatre Department Teacher Ruthie Pincus.

Now in its sixth year, the mission of the Teeny Awards is to recognize and celebrate the talented theatre students in Islip Township, encourage them to pursue their dreams and to stimulate local interest, while developing an understanding of the value of theatre education in a well-rounded school curriculum. The Teen Awards reflect a commitment by the Islip Arts Council to recognize the high school theatre experience as an opportunity for young people to prepare themselves for the world beyond school walls.
