The songs of Long Island’s own piano man will fill the Nesconset Gazebo Tuesday night as the Billy Joel tribute band Songs in the Attic makes their debut.
Songs in the Attic will perform as part of the Nesconset Free Summer Concert series at 7:30 p.m. at the Nesconset Gazebo on Smithtown Boulevard.
This is the debut performance for Songs in the Attic, who has been together since February. The band takes its name from the popular Billy Joel album that came out in 1980. The “Songs in the Attic” album featured live versions of album cuts.

“I started playing piano when I was six,” he said. “When I was nine years old in 1976 when “The Stranger’ came out. It was life changing for me. I started playing like him. I literally wanted to play and sing because of him.”
Clark said he closely followed Joel's career while he was growing up.
“I emulated him growing up. I got his vocal inflections down,” he said. “I idolized him. I don’t have to study his playing, I got it.”
Songs in the Attic is preparing to play a two hour and 15 minutes set on Tuesday featuring a blend of songs from different albums.
“The great thing about Billy is you don’t have to decide what to play. You have to decide what not to play,” he said. “We will be playing everything except songs from [the album] ‘Innocent Man.’”
