Steve Levy To Open Consulting Firm in Hauppauge

Levy creates Common Sense Strategies, working with businesses and governments to help them cut costs and work efficiently.

Former Suffolk County executive Steve Levy has announced plans to open his own consulting firm in Hauppauge, now that he's out of political office.

Long Island Business News reports Levy has plans to open his own consulting firm, Common Sense Strategies, to work with businesses and government entities on trimming fiscal costs and efficiency.

"One area of expertise I’ve had over the last eight years is dealing with tight budgets and making things work more efficiently,” Levy said to LIBN. “These are some very tough economic times, and yet we [in the county] were able to find scores of areas to do more with less. I know every business is looking for that right now.”

In addition to budgetary consulting, Levy told LIBN  that he also hopes to work with political candidates - likely Republicans - in planning out their campaigns. Levy claimed he has personal expertise in the area after running 15 of his own political campaigns.

News of Levy's next chapter in life comes nearly a year after he announced he would in March 2011. Levy was under public scrutiny for his campaign fundraising methods, which came under investigation by District Attorney Thomas Spota. Levy chose to turn over all his campaign funds to the District Attorney's office at the close of the investigation.
