Hauppauge's Bretton Woods Students Get Firsthand Look at Marine Life on Long Island's Great South Bay

Bretton Woods’ 5th grade students recently sailed aboard the Yankee III out of the Captree Boat Basin to study oceanographic and marine life on Long Island’s Great South Bay. The students learned how to make their own seining nets and how to use them to collect plankton. They then examined their catch under microscopes. The students also had an opportunity to see and touch different species of animal and plant life that reside in Long Island’s waters.
