SUFFOLK COUNTY CHAMPS FOR 2nd CONSECUTIVE YEAR
HAUPPAUGE'S WRESTLING TEAM CROWNED SUFFOLK COUNTY TEAM CHAMPIONS FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

The Hauppauge High School Wrestling Team was crowned Suffolk County Team Champions for the second consecutive year on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Hofstra University. The Hauppauge Eagles overcame a 1.5 point deficit entering the final round of wrestling to overtake Rocky Point and to secure their second consecutive Suffolk County Team Wrestling Championship.
Along the way there were a number of noteworthy individual performances. Hauppauge produced two individual Suffolk County champions: Seniors Chris Mauriello (152 pounds) and Marcus Bisono (170 pounds); two runners-up: Junior Ben Tepperman (126 pounds) and Sophomore Jake Silverstein (120 pounds); third place finisher: Junior John Munro (285 pounds); and fourth place finisher: 8th Grader Danny Mauriello (113 pounds). The Eagles now await individual bids to the New York State Wrestling Championships to be held on February 26-27, 2016 at the Times Union Center in Albany.
“Congratulations to Coaches Chris Messina, Mike Messina and Nick Mauriello as well as to all of the members of the Hauppauge Varsity Wrestling Team on achieving this outstanding honor for the second consecutive season,” stated Dan Butler, Hauppauge’s director of Physical Education, Athletics, Recreation and Family & Consumer Science. “Through a total team effort and showing great determination and toughness, the Hauppauge Wrestling Program has once again ascended to the pinnacle of high school wrestling in Suffolk County”!
