Taking a Stand in History
Hauppauge Middle and High School Students Present Research Projects for 2017 National History Day Competition
Close to 250 students displayed inquiry-based research projects at Hauppauge School District’s Fourth Annual History Fair. Taking a Stand in History is the theme for the 2017 National History Day (NHD) Competition in which students participate on the Middle and High School levels. The projects presented included historical papers, individual and group exhibits, documentaries, websites and performances on a diverse variety of interesting topics.
The top three projects recognized in each category will represent Hauppauge School District at the 2017 NHD Long Island Regional Competition (LHD) at Hofstra University on March 19, 2017. From there, students who place in the top two or three of their categories will advance to April’s New York State History Day (NYSHD). The top two finishers at NYSHD will participate in the National Competition in June. “We congratulate all of Hauppauge School District’s History Fair participants,” stated Doreen Gordon, director of social studies and business. “We wish all students who are continuing on to compete in the Long Island Regional Competition the best of luck.”
