The ten-piece disco dance band has played across the tri-state area for the past six years. It entertains crowd by performing a mix of Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool & The Gang, Donna Summer, and Chic.

“This kind of music is universal. It appeals to those ages 8 to 80,” said Steve Interrante, the band’s owner/manager and saxophone player.

That 70's Band has performed everywhere from Mohegan Sun casino to various dance clubs with bands like The Trammps, Tavares, and Frances Jolie.

“Our music touches so many people and brings them back to a time when music was real. All the music was performed by actual musicians instead of computers and software,” Interrante said.

Lead female singer Donna Lee Maida has been singing and playing piano since she was 4. She’s sung the National Anthem for the New York Mets 12 times. She also recorded the theme song for author Danielle Steele’s book “To Love Again.”

Yet, Maida’s true passion is performing 70’s music.

“I love classic 70's. It was a great era. There were lots of great songs with lots of great melodies,” she said. “Singing these songs makes me feel good and it makes other people feel good.”

More than 1,500 residents attended Song in the Attic’s debut performance at the Nesconset Free Concert Series, sponsored by the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce and Legis. John Kennedy Jr., R-Nesconset, on July 19. Be sure to arrive early to avoid traffic and get a front row seat.

Attendees are asked to bring canned food or non-perishable food items to donate to Long Island Cares food bank, which will be on site to collect donations.

The Nesconset gazebo is located next door to the Nesconset branch of the Smithtown Special Library District at 148 Smithtown Boulevard, Nesconset.
