Hauppauge High School Seniors Rachel Black and Carl Mattioli Receive Suffolk Zone Awards

Hauppauge School District is pleased to announce that High School Seniors Rachel Black and Carl Mattioli received the Suffolk Zone Award as the High School’s top physical education students at a recent Hauppauge Hyatt dinner celebration. The Suffolk Zone Awards are presented annually to the top male and female physical education students in each graduating class.
The criteria for achieving this honor – as defined by the Suffolk Zone Chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance – include: an A average or 90 and above in high school physical education classes, an overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the conclusion of the junior year, and students who best exemplify physical fitness achievement, leadership ability, outstanding character and more.
“Carl and Rachel are role models for their peers as well as for younger students. Their work ethic and attitude are excellent examples for all to witness,” described Dan Butler, Hauppauge’s director of physical education, athletics, health, recreation and family and consumer science. “We are proud of their accomplishments and wish them the very best of luck in all of their future endeavors”
