Brooklyn Heights Homeless Man's Killer Charged: Police And Report

Labib Abdullah stands accused of fatally beating Immerman Gideon last winter after stealing his cellphone, according to police and reports.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — Police arrested a man who mugged and fatally beat a homeless in downtown Brooklyn last winter.

Labib Abdullah, 38, has been charged with assault for the death of Immerman Gideon, 39, near Nevins and Fulton streets on Feb. 22, police said.

Gideon was rushed to New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital where he died in April from the head injuries he received during the attack, according to police.

Abdullah was charged with assault, menacing and harassment but those charges might be updated to include manslaughter or murder, a source told the New York Daily News.

Abdullah stands accused of stealing Gideon’s cellphone at the Flatbush Avenue McDonald’s then attacking the Gideon when he demanded it back, the Daily News reported.
