Alleged Burglar Caught On Tape, Quickly Arrested: Nassau Police

Police say the owners of a store saw him on their security cameras while viewing them from home, and then called 911.

Nassau County police say they arrested a Farmingdale man for burglary after he was allegedly caught on camera breaking into a business in Hicksville.

According to police, the owner of Glamorous Events Planner, located at 250 West Old Country Rd. in Hicksville, was notified at 3:30 a.m. Sunday by her business partner, who was looking at surveillance footage from their store at her home, that someone was in their store. The owner accessed the cameras from her home and saw an unknown man inside the store, and then called police.

When police arrived, they say they found Edward McGuire, 23, of Mill Road, Farmingdale, standing in the back of the store. After an investigation, police placed him under arrest.

Police say than the investigation revealed that McGuire was also responsible for another burglary and an attempted burglary of two other businesses in the area that occurred the same night.

McGuire is charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, attempted burglary and possession of burglar's tools. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
