Armed Robber Drives Elderly Woman To Bank In Her Car, Withdraws Cash: Police

The man approached the 85-year-old woman in a Walmart parking lot, forced her into her car and drove to a bank, police say.

Police are looking to identify the man who robbed an elderly woman at knifepoint in Westbury and forcibly drove her to a bank to withdraw cash from her account earlier this month.

According to authorities, a man armed with a large knife approached the 85-year-old woman as she was entering her vehicle in the Walmart parking lot, located at 1220 Old Country Road, and demanded money at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 2.

The man then forced the woman into the passenger seat, took her keys and drove to a Chase Bank in Elmont, police say. The man forced the woman to give him her ATM card and PIN then withdrew an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber then left the bank and drove to Dutch Broadway where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot westbound to Audrey Avenue.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries to her upper body, police say.

Police described the man as black, 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inches tall, in his 20s, with a thin build and wearing a baseball cap.
