New Carle Place SD Teachers Welcomed With 'Little Mermaid' Show

CARL PLACE, NY — New teachers in the Carle Place School District got quite the welcome as they prep for the upcoming school year.

The district will have 13 new teachers this year, including elementary school teachers, foreign language educators, special education teachers and substitutes. The group was treated to a special welcome by Christine Finn, the district superintendent, as well as a student performance of "The Little Mermaid." The teachers were also given a tour around the district.

The purpose of the orientation was to acquaint them with the district's expectations and core values, officials said in a news release. It was also meant to help introduce them to the resources available and their students.

Here are the new teachers:

• Amanda Esteves, elementary teacher at Cherry Lane
• Erica Ruthen, Elementary Teacher at Cherry Lane
• Katherine Hesterberg, elementary teacher at Cherry Lane
• Hannah Lee, elementary teacher at Rushmore Ave.
• Aliza Cohn, school counselor elementary
• John Hogan, special education teacher at Rushmore Ave.
• Nicholas Badaracco, .5 AIS teacher & .5 permanent substitute teacher
• Kaydian Perkins, leave replacement elementary teacher and permanent substitute
• Roberta Nilsen, leave replacement Italian teacher
• Nicole DuBois-Grabkowitz, leave replacement English teacher
• Kacey Maher, permanent substitute teacher
• Jessica Bongiorno, permanent substitute teacher
• Chelsea Tizzio, permanent substitute teacher

The district also welcomed Kevin Coffey, the new assistant superintendent for business, Anastasia Tzortzatos, the new executive director of technology, and Anthony DeBlasio, district director of guidance.
