HICKSVILLE, NY — Hicksville's Book Fairies will be celebrating a milestone this month.

On April 12, the organization will distribute its 6 millionth book at its Community Book Fair. Up to 150 educators and non-profit partners will join the Book Fairies at the annual fair, where they distribute an average of 26,000 books each month in three hours.

Book Fairies sources and redistributes books to under-resourced communities on Long Island, the five boroughs, and internationally.

Associate Executive Director Courtney Collins said this milestone highlights the ongoing need in the Long Island communities.

"By welcoming educators and nonprofit partners to our Book Bank to take as many books as they need, we’re not just celebrating — we’re continuing our commitment to ensuring every child and family has access to books and the opportunity to thrive," she said.
