Registration opening for town fitness classes (jericho-news-journal.com) — Town of Oyster Bay residents can soon sign up for 10-week co-ed fitness classes at the Hicksville Athletic Center, with registration opening September 2 for residents. Adults 18 and over can choose from yoga, Zumba, Pilates, cardio kickboxing, ballroom dancing, and meditation, with clear schedules, fees, and simple online registration requirements for both residents and non-residents.

2. Hicksville Fire Department plans 9/11 remembrance (bethpagenewsgram.com) — Hicksville residents are invited to two special 25th-anniversary 9/11 remembrance gatherings on Friday, September 11, and Sunday, September 13, hosted by the Hicksville Volunteer Fire Department. Families of those being honored, including several former Hicksville residents and two fallen chiefs, are urged to contact the department's Remembrance Committee to help shape the memorial program and share information about their loved ones.

Hicksville-based anti-illiteracy nonprofit, Book Fairies, expands (longislandpress.com) — A Hicksville-based nonprofit, Book Fairies, is growing its impact by moving into a much larger warehouse and adding three new advisors to its board. The group, which has already distributed six million books, collects gently used titles and redistributes them to schools, shelters, community groups, and incarcerated people locally and worldwide to fight illiteracy and nurture a love of reading.

VYING FOR GLORY: 20 NY/NJ teams will try to reach Open Cup (frontrowsoccer.com) — A Hicksville-based club, the New York Fighting Tomcats, is among 20 New York and New Jersey teams entering fall qualifying rounds for the 2027 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Local soccer fans can watch this regional mix of amateur and semi-pro sides battle through four qualifying rounds for a coveted spot in the national tournament.
