Robber Injures 7-Eleven Employee During Theft: Nassau Police

WESTBURY, NY—A man was arrested on Friday in Westbury after he allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven and attacked the employee who tried to stop him, Nassau Police said.

William Mohan, 53, of Lindenhurst, entered the 7-Eleven located at 760 Old Country Road around 12:15 a.m., allegedly took items from the store and hid it in his clothing. A store employee saw Mohan taking items, approached him and asked him to give the merchandise back. Mohan didn't listen, and when the employee said he would call 911, Mohan allegedly began punching the employee in the head multiple times and threw him into a display rack, police said.

The employee sustained substantial pain, swelling and a laceration to his face. He was able to escape Mohan when customers entered the store, causing Mohan to flee on foot. The customers were able to bring Mohan back to the store while police arrived. Police found the items Mohan had allegedly stole on the front lawn of a nearby home.

Mohan was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on Friday, July 5.
