Teen Stops Woman From Breaking Into Home Twice: PD

The 14-year-old girl thwarted both burglary attempts, police say.

A woman is accused of attempting to gain entry into a Hicksville residence on two occasions while a 14-year-old girl was home.

According to authorities, a 14-year-old girl was in her home when 42-year-old Hicksville resident Erica Mendoza-Yanes knocked on the front door and attempted to open it on Tuesday. The girl was able to close and lock the door.

Police say Mendoza-Yanes also attempted to enter the home on Sept. 19 by moving a window air conditioner and reaching for the door handle. The girl was able to close the door and stop Mendoza-Yanes from entering the home.
