Voter's Guide: Hicksville 2017-18 School Budget, Board Election
What you need to know for election day.

Hicksville residents will vote on the school district’s $134,781,267 proposed budget for the 2017-18 school year on Tuesday, May 16.
The proposal calls for a 1.85 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.48 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state’s tax cap.
It is estimated that the tax rate will increase $76.21 per year for homes with a 2016-17 market value of $300,000 and $114.32 for homes with a market value of $450,000, the school district reports.

- District No. 1— Burns Avenue School
- District No. 2— East Street School
- District No. 3— Woodland School
- District No. 4— Lee Avenue School
- District No. 5— Fork Lane School
- District No. 6— Dutch Lane School
- District No. 7— Old Country Road School
Five candidates are running for three seats on the Board of Education, Newsday reports.
- Kyle Singh and incumbent Kevin J. Carroll are running for one seat.
- Christopher Amato and Kevin Asher are running for an open seat.
- Sunita Manjrekar is running unopposed for an open seat.
