WESTBURY, NY - State troopers are investigating a crash that left two people dead in Westbury in which a sedan smashed into a guardrail, went airborne and struck a tree and light pole.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday, state police said. Troopers found a 2000 Honda Accord overturned in a wooded area near Wantagh State Parkway and Northern State Parkway.

The driver and lone passenger died at the scene, state police said.

Early indications are that car was speeding when it left the roadway and crashed.

The names of the victims weren't immediately released.

State police are asking anyone with information call State Police Troop "L" Headquarters at 631-756-3300. All calls will remain confidential.
