4 Vehicles Hit After Driver Suffers Medical Event On LIE In Dix Hills: Police

A driver and his passenger were taken to a hospital after the crash in the westbound HOV lane near Exit 51, police say.

DIX HILLS, NY — A driver suffered a medical event that led to a crash involving multiple vehicles on the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills on Tuesday morning.

Police said the man was driving in the HOV lane on the westbound LIE near Exit 51 at approximately 9 a.m. when he apparently experienced a medical episode.

The driver’s vehicle veered left and struck four other vehicles, police said.

The driver and his adult passenger were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

No other injuries were reported.
