American Technical Ceramics To Close Huntington Station Plant
American Technical Ceramics, based in Huntington Station, plans to close its plant there, affecting two dozen workers.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — A Huntington Station ceramics plant is slated to close next year, affecting two dozen workers, according to the state's Labor Department. American Technical Ceramics, based near Norden Lane and West Stepar Place, will close the plant Sept. 30, 2020, according to WARN details on the state's website.
As for layoffs, the first phase of worker separations was expected to occur during a two-week period beginning Sept. 27, 2019. The plant is closing for economic reasons, the notice said. The plant's 157 workers are not represented by a union.
The ceramics company makes components int the RF, microwave and telecommunications industries, according to its website.

"Our products are primarily focused on the wireless communications infrastructure, fiber optic, medical electronics, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, defense, aerospace, and satellite communications markets," the website said.
Most of the plant's production processes were already relocated to Mexico, Newsday reported, citing federal filings. Some production processes were reportedly to be moved to Greenville, South Carolina, this time, the newspaper said. Remaining production, professional and office staff in Huntington Station were to be laid off.
