Meet Stimson Middle School's 2 New Assistant Principals (patch.com) — South Huntington families will see two new faces leading Stimson Middle School, as assistant principals Tracey Zito and Shalli Lynch step into key roles supporting students this year. Both bring deep experience in ENL, special education, and middle school education, and the principal highlights their strong relationship-building focus as a benefit to Huntington's students and families.
2. Island Harvest to Provide Free Monthly Food Distribution for Huntington Seniors (huntingtonnow.com) — Huntington seniors 60 and older will soon have access to free monthly food distributions at Municipal Parking Lot 22 in Huntington Station, run by Island Harvest at no cost to participants or the Town. Following an Aug. 11 Town Board vote, distributions will take place every fourth Thursday from Aug. 27, 2026 through Aug. 26, 2027, expanding mobile meal support for local older residents.
3. Times … and dates: Aug. 20 to Aug. 27 (tbrnewsmedia.com) — Huntington residents can still catch the Huntington Summer Arts Festival at Heckscher Park through Aug. 22 and enjoy the weekly Huntington Farmers Market on Main Street. The calendar also rounds up dozens of nearby concerts, festivals, lectures, and family events across Northport, Port Jefferson, Setauket, and beyond running from Aug. 20 to Aug. 27, many of them free and outdoors.
4. Kids Korner: Aug. 20 to Aug. 27, 2026 (tbrnewsmedia.com) — Families around Huntington have a full week of kid-friendly options, from a free Story & Craft morning at The Next Chapter on New York Avenue to storytime at Barnes & Noble in Huntington Station. Nearby, you'll also find turtle encounters, nature programs, children's theater, and a Cinema Arts Centre screening of "Dog Man" in Huntington, all scheduled between Aug. 20 and Aug. 30.
5. 10th Annual Allman Betts Family Revival Tour Dates Announced (nysmusic.com) — Huntington music fans can catch the Allman Betts Family Revival Tour at The Paramount on December 6, part of a 20-date national run celebrating the Allman Brothers Band's legacy. Devon Allman and Duane Betts lead an all-star lineup performing two distinct sets spanning the band's classic 1970s work through its 1990s resurgence.
