• Video shows dogs attacking jogger, 2 others in Long Island neighborhood (cbsnews.com) — A Dix Hills jogger, her husband, and a good Samaritan were mauled by two loose pit bulls, prompting a response from Huntington's Animal Control Division and raising safety concerns in the neighborhood. The dogs' owners now face a district court hearing that could see the pets legally labeled dangerous, leading to strict confinement rules or possible euthanasia.
   

• Mosquitos With West Nile Virus Found Around Huntington (huntingtonnow.com) — Mosquito samples in several Huntington-area communities, including Cold Spring Harbor, Northport, Greenlawn, Dix Hills, and Melville, have tested positive for West Nile virus this season. Suffolk County health officials say most infections cause mild or no symptoms, but warn that some people can develop severe illness, underscoring the need for residents to stay vigilant about mosquito exposure.
   

• 'We just want to get them help': Dozens of cats roam Dix Hills neighborhood following homeowner eviction (news12.com) — Dozens of abandoned cats are roaming a Dix Hills block, and neighbors say they're feeding the animals daily while pleading for help. The Town of Huntington is offering traps and spay-neuter services, but residents argue many cats are domesticated and should be adopted instead of returned outdoors as the Suffolk County SPCA continues its investigation.
