📰 News we're reading

• Huntington rejects new gas-powered leaf blower law, eyes compromise next year (newsday.com) — Huntington's Town Board has rejected a proposed law to limit gas-powered leaf blowers, but officials say they'll pursue a new compromise before the current pause on restrictions expires in February. The debate pits landscapers' concerns about cost and efficiency against residents' worries over noise and health impacts, meaning any future rules could directly change how yards are maintained across town.

• Kerber's Farm School pairs up with Helping Hands Rescue Mission (newsday.com) — Kerber's Farm School in Huntington has begun harvesting vegetables and honey from nearby Froehlich Farm Nature Preserve to supply Helping Hands Rescue Mission's food pantry in Huntington Station, supporting about 250 families weekly. The farm is launching volunteer programs and offering free wagon tours through Thanksgiving, giving local residents hands-on ways to learn about sustainable farming while helping neighbors facing food insecurity.

• Enter for Your Chance to Win Tickets to See She Wants Revenge (audacy.com) — You can enter online this week for a chance to win tickets to see She Wants Revenge at The Paramount in Huntington on October 30. The station will randomly select up to five winners on October 19, but you'll need an email address, a smartphone, and a ticketing app account to redeem the mobile-only tickets.
