Moonjumpers St. Baldrick's Event

Moonjumpers Charitable Foundation is hosting a pre-Super Bowl party at Napper Tandy’s in Northport to benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and its quest to find cures for childhood cancers on Saturday, February 2 from 8-11 p.m. It promises to be a really swinging evening.

Moonjumpers is teaming up with well-known Northport bartender and man-about-town Steve Donohue, who is on a quest to raise $10,000 for St. Baldrick’s, which has contributed more than $120 million to cancer research efforts since its founding in 2000.

Tickets to the Napper Tandy’s event will be available at the door for $40. They entitle the bearer to an all-you-can-eat hot buffet and an unlimited selection of beer, wine and soda. Live entertainment will be provided by Peter Mazzeo & The Hit Squad.

Donohue will be shaving his head at the Feb. 2 event to demonstrate his solidarity with those children undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Moonjumpers and Donohue teamed up for a similar event earlier this winter at The Rite Café in Northport. The event raised several thousand dollars for the cause.

The Moonjumpers Charitable Foundation is a registered New York State non-profit and IRS approved 501(c) tax-exempt organization. It is comprised of local Huntington residents from many different walks of life. Members of the group have a similar interest in helping those in the community who need it most.
With the Super Bowl kicking off the following day, the February 2 party will sound just the right note for local fans. Interest in in the event is running high. The dance floor will be open throughout the evening. An assortment of raffles is also planned.

Since its founding in 2011, Moonjumpers has been active on the local scene. It has contributed thousands of dollars to purchase Christmas and holiday toys for hundreds of underprivileged youth in the area, donated more than 100 prom dresses and 40 pairs of designer shoes to help teenagers in need, collected over 300 warm winter jackets to assist the homeless and those struggling financially, gathered 300 pounds of food and $350 in donation for The Refuge in East Northport, helped paint the Tri CYA facility in Huntington Station and coordinated the motivational appearance and talk of New York Yankees advisor Ray Negron, gave Tri-CYA a new computer for its after school programs and donated food to the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

It also raised money for the Children’s Organ Transplant Association with proceeds from a fundraising party earmarked to help a local high school graduate who has battled serious illness over the past year and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help several local charitable organizations.
