Arrests Made in Huntington Station LIRR Shooting

The two men are responsible for shooting a man in the foot last month, police say.

Two men responsible for shooting a man in the Huntington Station LIRR commuter parking lot last month have been arrested, police say.

Jonattan Canales, 18, and his stepbrother Cesar Moncada, 19, both of Huntington Station, were arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree assault.

On April 23, a 20-year-old Huntington Station man was walking through the LIRR parking lot when an unknown man stepped out of a vehicle, pointed a gun at him and shot him in the foot at 8 p.m., police say.

The man fled to 7-Eleven, located at 1297 New York Ave., where someone called the police for him. He was transported by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where he is listed in stable condition.

Both men will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip.
